About the course

AI has arrived in everyday development work - the results have not. The tools are used daily, but delivery is no faster in any measurable sense, quality is uneven, and nobody can demonstrate that the outcome has improved.

This course closes exactly that gap. Participants learn to stop writing software line by line and instead generate it with AI agents from a versioned, machine-readable specification, to secure the result through automated checks, and to measure progress against numbers that hold up. The course is tool-independent: what is taught is the method, not how to operate a particular product.

On completion, participants can take a feature from specification to a verified release with AI support, systematically assess the quality of the generated code, and evidence the effectiveness of their way of working with hard numbers.

Course structure

The course comprises 50 teaching units (60 minutes each) across six modules that build on each other. The modules cannot be booked individually - the course is booked and completed as a single programme.

  • Module 1 - Foundations of AI-supported software development
  • Module 2 - Specification-driven development
  • Module 3 - Agent-based code generation and context engineering
  • Module 4 - Quality assurance, guardrails and reviewing AI output
  • Module 5 - Measurement and cost-effectiveness
  • Module 6 - Hands-on project including transferable artefacts and a closing presentation

Small groups (max. 8 people), online only, alongside your job. The individual sessions are agreed with the participants at the start of the course and fall within the stated course period. On top of that come exercises worked on independently.

Throughout, work happens on a supplied reference project that deliberately contains both new and existing code; carrying the method over into your own technology stack is part of Module 6. The certificate of completion is included in the course fee.

Who it is for and what you need

Software developers, technical team leads and architects with at least two years of practice who already use AI in their day-to-day work and want to move from scattered use to a governed, measurable way of working. Confident command of at least one programming language, along with experience of version control and automated testing, is assumed. No particular technology stack is required.
